We have now been in South Africa for more than two months, with just less than a month before we return. Much has changed since last month. We have learnt lots, particularly about living in community … we knew this was likely to be hard for us. But Praise God that …

  • we are beginning to cope much better with friends calling in – just whenever!
  • we are beginning to enjoy /embrace the idea that spending 10 minutes chatting to someone you meet (on what you intended to be a 2 minute trip) is more important than getting that job completed (which you have been trying to get finished all morning!)
  • He is teaching us so much about ourselves, and perhaps what He wants from us in future
  • He has been using us in varied an unexpected ways, to touch lives, particularly of some of the team members.
  • our cell group has been transformed after that first meeting we attended. Before the following week the leader found I played guitar, insisted I bring it, and the delightful time of worship we enjoyed led to much less formal meetings ever since.
